Current Events

So I had a story idea that I was ruminating in my head and I finally have a chance to write about it! I'm so excited! I can't tell you what it's about yet or anything, just that I'm writing for the TwiGirls Christmas Cracker Exchange! I'm very excited for it.

My computer is back *finally, right?* and although they didn't do the repair for my keyboard, they repaired the important stuff so that's what counts I suppose.

School is going good, I'm finishing up this term and that means finals are coming up... can't tell you if that's a good thing or not! We're still moving, I know I mentioned it long ago (not sure if it's on the blog though.... huh), but then everything with my dad being in the hospital and such happened and it got postponed but it's official, and we will be moving during the month of December... if we can find a house! *shakes head*

Lots to do, basically I just wanna say this though: Happy Holidays and I love you all!

Gone Missing

So, just in case you don't follow me on twitter, then you probably don't know that my computer has been out of commission, and I'm working on getting the money needed for the part that needs to be paid for so I can ship it off to be fixed. Plus, they're going to replace my keyboard, replace the battery and check out the cord. Lots of work to be done *laughs* Anywho, that's why I've been out of reach. I'll be posting another of my One-shots that I'd written for those causes earlier in the year. Hopefully that will help you all forgive me? *bats eyelashes*

Oh and I also added some blinkies to my fic rec list. All those stories are awesome, so check them out, they're in my sidebar.

Completely Stunned

I received a PM yesterday letting me know my O/s Little Things was nominated for an award!! How insane is that?? I'm ecstatic! Voting for the One-shots portion is on August 22nd-29th. I hope you vote for your favorites. I'm up against some wonderful stories so I don't expect to win, but am so honored to be considered. *hugs* to everyone (especially whoever nominated me)!

Goings On

So, it's certainly been awhile since I've posted, eh? I've certainly had a lot going on. For those that don't know, I was supposed to be moving this summer- out of state. Then my dad had to go in for surgery and things were super scary for awhile- ICU scary. He's home now, and recovering *thank you to everyone who supported me, I wouldn't have been able to keep it together without you*. It's a long way coming until he's back to full health though, so as for our move? That has been put on hold. But it will be coming up *nose crinkle* I hate packing, haha.

As for writing, I've been focusing on JST; I really wanna get back into it, it's just hard to find time, ya know? I'll slowly but surely be posting all those One-shots I worked on this year for all those causes. Thank you to everyone who helped and/or donated... you're amazing. I now have my site and profile all organized too, I'm happy to say. Took me long enough, huh? I have the fic recs in the sidebar all updated too. If you want actual recs though Check out the TwiGirls Next Door for our Must Read Mondays recs- lots of variety (this month's rec theme is historical fics!).
Fill out this form: bit.ly/p7DnXA and you get entered in a raffle... with prizes! And this form: http://bit.ly/ny4d8M for your BETA/PREREADER to be in the raffle for prizes ;)
Hosted by the TwiGirls Next Door
Anywho, lots going on, but I haven't forgotten about anything. It'll come in due time. Love you all, and thanks for sticking with me!

Bandwith Issues and Beautiful Words

My story Just Standing There was rec'd on the beautiful new rec site Pretty in Fic. Can you believe it?? I think I'm gonna have a heart attack!! The words were so beautiful and I am so touched that anyone could think so highly of my story- especially when I've been an ass at updating it. I've been really into the story line lately though. Once I finish with my O/s obligations for the Causes going around then I'm going to jump right back into it. Keep your fingers crossed for me, yeah?

In other news though... as you can see my photos aren't showing up. I apparently reached my bandwith limit on Photobucket... evil bastards just have to set a limit, huh?? Anyways I'm going to probably pay for it so that they'll come back this month, but then I'm going to look for a new site for them. I'm really bummed about it. It'll be a pain in the bootay to do kwim? Anywho, celebrate with me you guys! And have a look at that awesome review!!

Fandom Against Domestic Violence

I have just sent in my entry for this cause. This is something that is near and dear to my heart as I know so many people who have/ suffered through this horrible act and if simply writing a one-shot can help inspire one person donate money than I feel I have made a difference. Maybe you'll feel the same?

This is some info taken from their site:

DV & NCADV Facts

Facts About Domestic Violence
What is domestic violence?

Domestic violence, or intimate partner violence, occurs when one person causes physical or psychological harm to a current or former intimate partner. It includes all acts of violence within the context of family or intimate relationships. Besides being the leading cause of injury to women in the United States (a woman is beaten every 15 seconds), it is an issue of increasing concern because of its negative effect on all family members, especially children.
While accurate information on the extent of domestic violence is difficult to obtain because of under-reporting, some aspects of the problem are known:

    * Domestic violence is not confined to any one socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, racial or age group and knows no geographic or educational boundaries. It also occurs within teenage relationships and among same-sex partnerships.
    * About one out of every four women in America will be physically assaulted or raped by an intimate partner at some point in their lives. In fact, American women are more likely to be assaulted, injured, raped or killed by a male partner than by any other type of assailant.
    * Estimates of assaults on women by partners range from approximately 2 million to 4 million annually in the United States.
    * The majority of women killed at work are murdered by a current or former intimate partner.

What are the signs of domestic violence?

If you believe you may be in an abusive relationship, here are some questions to ask yourself:

    * Have you ever been physically hurt, such as being kicked, pushed, choked or punched, by your partner or ex-partner?
    * Has your partner ever used the threat of hurting you or members of your family to get you to do something?
    * Has your partner ever injured or abused your pets?
    * Has your partner ever destroyed your property or things that you care about?
    * Has your partner tried to keep you from seeing your family, going to school or doing other things that are important to you?
    * Do you feel like you are being controlled or isolated by your partner? For instance, does your partner control your money, transportation, activities or social contacts?
    * Have you ever been forced by your partner to have sex when you did not want to or to have unsafe sex?
    * Is your partner jealous and always questioning whether you are faithful?
    * Does your partner regularly blame you for things that you cannot control, or for his/her violent outbursts?
    * Does your partner regularly insult you?
    * Are you ever afraid of your partner or of going home? Does he/she make you feel unsafe?

There are other signs of domestic violence that observers might see in a relative or friend who is in an abusive relationship. They include:

    * being prone to "accidents" or being repeatedly injured
    * having injuries that could not be caused unintentionally or that do not match the story of what happened to cause them
    * having injuries on many different parts of the body, such as the face, throat, neck, chest, abdomen or genitals
    * having bruises, burns or wounds that are shaped like teeth, hands, belts, cigarette tips or that look like the injured person has a glove or sock on (from having a hand or foot placed in boiling water)
    * having wounds in various states of healing
    * often seeking medical help or, conversely, waiting to seek or not seeking medical help even for serious injuries
    * showing signs of depression
    * using alcohol or other drugs
    * attempting suicide

What are the health effects of domestic violence?

Besides the obvious physical injuries, domestic violence can lead to depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. Abuse also might trigger suicide attempts or psychotic episodes.

How can you leave an abusive partner?

Leaving an abuser can be dangerous. In order to do it as safely as possible, you should plan ahead and take the following precautions:

    * Pack a bag ahead of time that will be available to take with you when you decide it is the safest time to leave. Include items such as extra clothes, important papers, money, extra keys and prescription medications.
    * Know exactly where you will go and how you will get there.
    * Call a local women’s shelter or the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233) to find out about legal options and resources available to you.

While making plans to leave, avoid making long-distance phone calls from home of using a cell phone. An abuser could trace long-distance calls to find out where you are going or intercept your cell phone conversations using a scanner. Also, be aware that the abuser may be able to monitor your Internet activities and access your e-mail account.

Where can you turn to for help?

In an emergency situation, call 911 or your local law enforcement agency. If you are not in immediate danger, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-Safe (7233), which provides crisis intervention and referrals to in-state or out-of-state resources, such as women’s shelters or crisis centers.

About The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence

The Mission of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) is to organize for collective power by advancing transformative work, thinking and leadership of communities and individuals working to end the violence in our lives.

NCADV believes violence against women and children results from the use of force or threat to achieve and maintain control over others in intimate relationships, and from societal abuse of power and domination in the forms of sexism, racism, homophobia, classism, anti-Semitism, able-bodyism, ageism and other oppressions. NCADV recognizes that the abuses of power in society foster battering by perpetuating conditions, which condone violence against women and children. Therefore, it is the mission of NCADV to work for major societal changes necessary to eliminate both personal and societal violence against all women and children.

NCADV's work includes coalition building at the local, state, regional and national levels; support for the provision of community-based, non-violent alternatives - such as safe home and shelter programs - for battered women and their children; public education and technical assistance; policy development and innovative legislation; focus on the leadership of NCADV's caucuses developed to represent the concerns of organizationally under represented groups; and efforts to eradicate social conditions which contribute to violence against women and children.

Alright, I know it's been a while but things haven't been going too well at home so I apologize for going MIA on y'all. I'm working on the next chapter as you read this. It will be Christmas with Geeky instead of Thanksgiving, but this works out, I suppose... I'll have to check and see if I made any mistakes by mentioning Thanksgiving and change it but other than that we're good to go it would seem. I'm hoping to have it posted soon. Thanks and I love you all.

Chp. 6 Pic & Teaser for JST

Hey everyone!

How you been? Hopefully not as tired as me. Anywho, I promised a TEASER, so you all are getting a teaser. I should be finishing up my F4P O/s this week so hopefully I can work on my update more now. I have about 1/4 or so of it done if you were curious.

------------------------------------------------
Ch. 6 PicTease of Just Standing There.

“And where, pray tell, do you think you're going?” I asked the brown haired beauty in a teasing voice as I wrapped my arms around her from behind eliciting a giggle from her.

“I was going to check out this music store, it looks like they have old records in the back,” she said while wiggling around in an unconsciously alluring manner as she rubbed her bottom along my nether regions.

“Shall we?” I asked as I grasped her hand in one of my own while opening the door to the shop with the other. No need to alert anyone to the vast change of my thoughts.

“Awesome! Geeze, I don't know where to start. Frick! What about everyone else? Won't they want to know where we are? I don't want to wor-” she babbled before I cut her off by biting the soft skin of her neck where I had left a mark the previous day causing her to let out a squeak and attempt to move away from my persistent mouth. That is before we were interrupted by the sound of a throat clearing behind us. Why must this always happen to me??

------------------------------------------------

Oh, one more thing! Major HUGE thanks goes out to The Wayward Pushers for Rec'ing my fic in their post yesterday. *Muah*
